ALTAMIRA’S PRAE
OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
With the aim of creating an educational environment that goes beyond mere academic excellence, we have committed ourselves with determination to protect our surroundings and comply with the strictest sustainability standards. We recognize clearly that our daily actions can leave a significant footprint on the environment, which is why we have taken on the responsibility to implement an Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001:2015.
Through our Environmental School Project (PRAE), we not only aim to reduce our environmental impact, but also to inspire our entire educational community to become active agents of change. We firmly believe that by fostering a culture of respect for the environment among our students, teachers, and administrative staff, we can transform not only our institution, but also positively influence our surrounding environment.
Our main objective is to raise awareness among all members of the AIS community about their role as custodians of the environment and promoters of sustainable practices. We are aware of the environmental issues that surround us, especially regarding the management of solid waste. Currently, we face challenges in the collection, treatment, and reuse of our waste, which affects not only our institution, but also our entire educational community.
Therefore, we have designed a comprehensive Action Plan that will be implemented in two phases:
AWARENESS
We will focus on raising awareness through training sessions led by our PRAE team and environmental clubs, with the aim of promoting awareness and understanding of sustainability concepts among our teachers and students.
HABIT CREATION
We will concentrate on the creation of sustainable habits, carrying out practical activities that involve the entire educational community.

We integrate Environmental Projects into our new educational models, such as Problem-Based Learning (PBL). Our approach promotes the resolution of real problems through research, autonomous learning, and collaboration. We adapt environmental content to the Preprimary, Primary, and Secondary sections, promoting action and active participation of students in environmental protection. Our projects go beyond the classroom, allowing students to apply their knowledge in concrete contexts and become agents of change in their communities. In summary, at Altamira, we educate responsible citizens committed to caring for the planet through practical and meaningful environmental education.
